itunes download to ipod

Have you ever wanted to download iTunes MP3s to your iPod? Maybe you’re a high school or college student attending multiple classes and you downloaded the MP3 audio of the lecture from the school’s website. Or maybe, you were fortunate enough to have a great instructor who has provided you with an MP3 CD containing a lecture you missed.
Mom has called and wants you home this weekend to celebrate Grandma’s 80th birthday knowing full well you have a midterm on Monday. A real dilemma. You need to keep Mom and Grandma happy, but you also need to study for Monday’s mid term. I can’t help with Mom and Grandma, but putting MP3’s of class lectures into your iPod so you can listen to them while you’re driving back and forth to school is a snap! I”ll tell you why. As an MP3 user, you already play audio files from your favorite musicians with Apple iTunes on your computer. These same files can be copied or downloaded from your PC to your iPod.
I’ll tell you how. The beauty of iTunes is that it keeps a database of the songs, lectures, or any other digital recordings you have downloaded from the internet or uploaded from CD’s. This digital “database” is called your library. Sounds complicated right? Well, it’s not. Here’s a little known fact about iTunes. The iTunes database is basically just an electronic pointer to where you have stored your MP3 audio flies. If you mistakenly add the same digital recordings more than once, the programming logic just updates the pointer.
If you have MP3 audio files on a CD or DVD, copy them first to your hard drive. This is especially smart if you use a laptop. Ever have a time where you wanted to listen to a favorite CD on the road or at Starbucks. Then you realized you left the CD at home and had not yet ripped them to your hard drive. Unfortunately, I have made that same mistake too many times to ever want to own up to it. Here is a very important reminder important when ripping music to your hard drive. Make sure you establish a logical filing system for your MP3’s so you can tell iTunes where to retrieve the data at a later date.
From the main menu under file, select add file to library to add one, or maybe a few MP3’s or select add folder to library to add all the MP3 files in a folder (or directory for Windows users). Shazaammm….your new files are added to your library. Finally, synchronize our iPod and listen to your new additions.

1. iTunes Radio
There are lots of radio stations to choose from in iTunes using the ‘Radio’ button. When you come across a radio station that you like, you can stream it in iTunes by going to Advanced—Open Stream, and then entering the URL manually.
2. Art Work
In iTunes it’s now possible to have the picture of the album been played displayed as well. You can add your own pictures and keep the music cover that was downloaded from the music store in place. To do this, go to ‘Get Info’ and click on ‘Artwork’. Add the image by navigating to the where the image is stored on your computer.
3. Trim Songs
Long songs on your iPod can be a bit annoying if space on your iPod is running out. iTunes will let you edit your music by chopping the bit you do like. Go to ‘Get Info’—Options and set the start and stop time.
4. Shopping Cart
iTunes by default let you purchase music using the ‘Buy’ button in the store and let you download instantly. Most people like myself prefer using the shopping cart to download music. Go to ‘Preferences—Store’ and select ‘Buy’ using a shopping cart. In the source pane at the Music Store will be cart.
5. iTunes Library Data Management
If ever faced the situation of losing all your music files because you forgot to back it up. If that’s the case, then iTunes comes to the rescue. In ‘Preferences’ click on the ‘Advanced’ tab and choose ‘Data CD or DVD’ to make copies of each file. Choose the file and select ‘Burn Disc’ at the top right. Remember, hard drives don’t last forever.
6. Finding Files
To find a music file, right-click on a song name and choose ‘Show Song File’ from the menu.
7. Join Tracks
All songs on CDs has a gap between each track. To join tracks as one long track with no gaps, go to ‘Advanced—Join CD Tracks’. Remember to have the tracks in the right order.
8. Crossfade Effect
To get the beginning and the end of your tracks to merge into each other, go to ‘Preferences—Playback’ and move the slider.
9. iTunes Update
To be notified of iTunes updates, turn on the iTunes updates button in ‘Preferences—General’. Remember to be connected to the internet for this to work.
10 Share Playlists
To share playlists on your entire library with other Mac users, go to ‘Preferences—Sharing’ and select ‘Share My Music’, then choose which songs you want to share. To prevent others getting their hands on your collection other than the users you want to share your music with, you can set a password to stop them.
